Theme: No Learning is Easy!

Memory Verse:

Beloved,

Whatever challenges you are going through currently, you can LEARN from it. Truly, no learning is stress free. However, when you consider the joy ahead of you, you are encouraged to endure. This may explain why ‘Long Suffering’ is a component of the Fruit of the Spirit ( Gal 5:22). Indeed, the Bible says this of Jesus Christ: “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross” (Heb 12:2b).

It is very important to know that LEARNING is hard work and that  successful LEARNING should culminate in the KNOWLEDGE of the truth, otherwise no TRUE learning has taken place. The Scripture refers to a group of people ” Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Tim 3:7)

In Christ, God desire is that every man should learn, be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth: “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth”(1 Tim 2:4). According to our memory verse, even as the Son of God, Jesus Himself LEARNED obedience through what he suffered. Learning should culminate in total obedience of the instructions of God as contained in His book. Learning that does not lead to total obedience of God’s words is fundamentally faulty. The Word says: And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make ye free ( John 8:32)

Brethren, the challenges you are going through in life are not in vain. The pains you go through, the sickness you experience; the disappointment you face, the feelings of frustration etc are necessary requirements for your next level . Remember Joseph, how he moved from the pit to the prison and to becoming the Prime Minister of Egypt. How he learned from the experiences and was gracious to his brothers ( Gen 50:20).

As I encourage every one reading this message, I know within me that it is not easy to REJOICE in the midst of challenges. Yet, this is exactly what St James is asking us to do:

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations…” (James 1:2-3)

Without spiritual maturity,  it is impossible to rejoice in the midst of suffering. This is where studying the word of God is relevant. Brother Paul admonishes us to: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth ( 2Tim 2:15).

Many a times we ask for increasing God’s grace in our lives, and not knowing that grace is multiplied  by knowledge. Brother Peter tells us this much: “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2). So the more knowledge of God we have in Christ, the more grace we have. No wonder Daniel says: “but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32b).

Prayer: There is someone reading this message, receive increasing grace to LEARN  total obedience of God’s word in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!

Yours in the Vineyard of Christ.  Ben Bassey, Iyobosa, & the MOW family
