Theme: Who is Your Best Friend?
Memory Verse:

” Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you”.
(John 15:14).

Beloved,

The Lord is leading me to ask you some vital questions:
Who is your best friend in this world? Who is your mentor? Who do you trust most? Who do you often turn to for guidance? Who do you often speak to? Who do you rely on, all the time?

Brethren, if you LEARN to make the Holy Spirit your best friend, mentor, trust, and guidance, you can never go wrong in life. Please, children note that having the Holy Spirit as your mentor should enable you to obey, respect, and honour both your spiritual and biological parents the more, as this carries a reward ( Eph 6:1-3).
According to the word of God, through prophet Jeremiah:

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD ” ( Jer 17:5).

In the words of the Psalmist:
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God’ (Psalm 20:7).

Our father Abraham was “called the Friend of God” (James 2:23).
Would God be able to testify about you, as He did of David, saying, I have found a man after my heart:
“And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will” (Acts 13:22).

David trusted God so much that he was ready to die rather than live and see Goliath mocked his God ( 1 Sam
17:45)

No wonder he admonished us : “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes (Psalm 118:9).

In the Country where I come from ( Nigeria), it is not unusual to hear children of God speak as if they are unbelievers especially when challenged. You will often hear a brother or sister who is not having a visible paid job, saying: I don’t know anybody who could help me. My usual response is usually, that it is the person’s choice not to know Jesus Christ. Truly, no one can fully know Christ, and be jobless in this world.

I am more than convinced that there are many people in the Church today who do not regard the Holy Spirit as their best friend, a confidant, a senior partner, a spiritual person (third Person in the Trinity), to be loved, trusted, relate to, romanced and walked with daily.

When the Holy Spirit is your best friend, invariable, Jesus Christ is also your best friend and ally, since both of them are inseparable:

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Cor 3:17). If the Holy Spirit is your best friend, Jesus is also your best friend and by extension, GOD, the Father is also your best friend since Jesus is in total ONENESS with the Father :

“I and my Father are one”
(John 10:30).
In Christ Jesus, God desires relationship and friendship from His children. The only condition to enter into this friendship is total obedience to the word of God. (John 15:14), as per our memory verse. Jesus promised all those who will maintain true friendship with Him, that they will be empowered to do ‘GREATER WORKS ‘ for Him (John 14:12). We are friends of Jesus out of His tremendous love for us(John 15:15), hence we owe Him complete obedience.

Brethren, the Holy Spirit is the spirit of Truth (John 16:13). He is the spirit of excellence, perfection, diligent obedience etc. There are some of my spiritual children who still struggle a lot with the concept of embracing the truth. They struggle with openness, honesty, transparency, sincerity, integrity etc. Why frustrate the grace of God? (Gal 2:22).

Please, try to make the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, the Father, your best friend in this world of darkness through the knowledge of the word of God.

Prayer: For everyone reading this message, receive the grace to make the Holy Spirit your best friend in Jesus’s mighty name. Amen.
