MOW-The Power of the Anointing (Bro Chris Ibia)

THE POWER OF THE ANOINTING

MEMORY VERSE:

Beloved, power is popularly known as an ability to do work. No power, no work done: power also connotes persistence that wears out resistance. Then anointing is an act of dropping oil upon a particular vessel for maximum exploits. No oil, no virtue, no grace, no empowerment and no fruit. To be oil-less is to be fruitless and to be oil-full is to be fruitful. No ministry without unction! Because, it takes unction to function.

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets, and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:11-12). Now, these offices cannot function without the power of the anointing. Anointing gives believers divine acceleration and make the journey of life easy. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts.10:38). Jesus’ ministry was dormant, until God the Father anointed Him.

When the oil came upon Him (Jesus), there was a divine release to doing good, healing and deliverance without which He was unable to do before. The anointing guarantees divine protection and establishes the power of the Holy Ghost which is the working power for signs and wonders. “He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm” (Psa.105:14-15). Anointing carries the seal of protection and preservation. Even in automobile, when oil is lacking or not gauge; the engine can or may knock down. Flexibility and productivity in the realm of the spirit is the function of the anointing.

The children of Israel gained supremacy over their enemies because of the anointing of God that was upon their lives. No kings or kingdoms could have mastery over them because they were carrying the seal of God (The anointing) upon their lives.

This anointing is simply the seal of God’s deposit (God’s Spirit) in the believer that walk with Him in spirit and in truth according to the book of John Chapter four verse twenty four. The case study of David shows that, he was forgotten, rejected and abandoned in the bush; but serious and dedicated in his duty post: when the oil of God located him, he was announced. “And he sent, and brought him in. now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to took to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah” (Isam.16:12-13).

David was anointed with oil: and as soon as the oil touched his head, the spirit of the Lord came upon him. The introduction of the anointing; is the introduction of the Holy Ghost into a vessel “I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him” (Psa89:20). Anointing is what makes a difference between a man and a man. Each time God sees a vessel that He wants to use; anointing must be introduced in other to activate effective relationship. Anointing communicates the reality of divinity through humanity. Where oil works, life functions: the absence of oil (The anointing), is the absence of power.

“Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over”(Psa.23:5). Oil comes upon the head, cup experiences an over flow: so to do exploit spiritually and physically; we need the power of the anointing. “And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so”(2kings2:9-10).

Anointing was so precious and potent to Elisha that he had to ask for a double portion: and he performed double that even at his death his bone raised a dead person back to life again.

THE MEDIUM TO WHICH OIL IS ATTRACTED:

(1) HOLINESS: Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment” (Eccl.9:8). Nothing attracts oil like holiness. If the oil brings Holy-Ghost activities, the vessel that carries it must be holy.

Sin contaminates the oil because God cannot live in a dirty container. “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idol? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you” (2Cor.6:16-17).

The anointed is expected to be a separate entity; without which the vessel may be defiled or stained through compromise and indiscipline. “And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy. And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy” (Ex.40:9-10). The altar is a meeting point of the spirit for decision making: also a place where spiritual authority is exercised. The establishment of oil is the establishment of altar and holiness. I pray for someone reading this message to be conscious of undiluted anointing in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Amen.
